BURDEN—Burden United Methodist Church hosted a community-wide block party Aug. 23.

The large crowd was welcomed to an evening of live music, karaoke and entertainment by local magicians and church members Jim and Lynn DeCesare

. Free watermelon was served on the church lawn.

The event was developed by the church’s community outreach committee. The committee members have knocked on many doors over the years to welcome new families to the community with a small gift basket.

The block party was a great way to continue the welcome in a casual setting to all the town’s residents and was another way to “Rethink Church” outside the church walls.
